William Eugene "Gene" Harris, 94, passed away January 7, 2023.

A native of Lutz, Fla., son of the late William Austin and Lorena Jobe Harris, he was a U.S. Army veteran, owner and operator of Harris Excavating Company, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving:

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Shirley Marie Elwell Harris; three sons, Alan
Harris (Beverly) of Bethel Springs, Tenn., Bruce Harris (Darlene) of Land O
Lakes, Fla., and Michael E. Harris of Lutz, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryl Parker
(Dale) of Live Oak, Fla., and Connie Lane (James) of Taylors, S.C., one
son-in-law, Chuck Bryant of Land O Lakes, Fla.; 12 grandchildren, Leslie,
Kristy, Kevin, Jeanie, Sarah, Cameron, Terry, Troy, Aimee, Alisha, Chad, and Amber; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great great-grandchildren.

He was also predeceased by one daughter, Kathy Harris; two grandchildren, Clint, and Kelly; one great-grandchild, Kevin; and four sisters, Ollie Bell Harris, Dorothy Harris, Francis Harris, and Geneva Harris.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services, with military honors, will be held Noon, Tuesday, January
17, 2023, at the Southwood Baptist Church, Tallahassee, Fla., conducted by
Rev. Robert Sutton. The committal service will follow Tuesday in the Tallahassee
National Cemetery. The funeral services will be handled by the Beggs Funeral
Home of Tallahassee, Fla.

Pallbearers will be Terry Myers, Chad Harris, Cameron Harris, Tim White, Troy
Lane, and Kevin Bryant.

The family is at their respective homes.
