William Harry "Papa" Smith, 95, husband of the late Bonnie Miller Smith, passed away October 28, 2022.

A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late William Troy and Mellie Dillard Smith, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a retired welder and pipefitter from B.F. Shaw in Laurens, S.C, and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving:

Surviving are four daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Gary Hendrix, Belinda Rumsey, and Bonita and Jim West all of Greer, and Bafhonia "Bee Bee" and Robin Brown of Woodruff; two sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Leigh Smith and Bobby and Sharon Smith all of Greer; nine grandchildren, Dionna Walker (Kip), Lindsey Howell (Sam), Brandy Lark (Dale), Melissa Hawkins, Dasha Painter (Joey), Candace Lemons (Christopher), Stuart McConnell (Della), Kaci Isbell (Jason), and Barrett Brown (Brittnee); 18 great-grandchildren, Ava Walker, Bella Walker, Paige Howell, Sadie Howell, Hudson Howell, Dillon Turner, Madison Hawkins, Xavier Paddie, Jackson Painter, Emma Jo Painter, Miller Lemons, Karson Lemons, Mason McConnell, Ember McConnell, Ella Isbell, Gunner Isbell, Barron Brown, and Banx Brown; one great-great-grandchild, Tylan Turner; three brothers, Bill Smith and Marion Smith (Judy) all of Greer, and John Smith (Barbara) of Easley; and two sisters, Sara Rumsey (Odis) of Greer and Ann Finch of Taylors.

He was also predeceased by four sisters, Ruby Smith, Elizabeth Mayfield, Lucy Howell, Louise Griffin and Betty Bryant; and one brother, Kenneth Smith.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at The Wood Mortuary Chapel, conducted by Pastor Danny Garrett.

Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Barrett Brown, Dillon Turner, Kip Walker, Sam Howell, Joey Painter, Christopher Lemons, Stuart McConnell, and Jason Isbell.

Visitation will be held 1 ? 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary before the service.

The family is at their respective homes.
