William Ryan Effler, known to his loved ones as Ryan, passed away on October 18, 2023, at the age of 88 in Travelers Rest, SC.

He was born on July 6, 1935, in Inman, SC, to Bertie Abernathy Effler and David Holt Effler.

Ryan attended District Five High School in Duncan, SC, and furthered his education at Greenville Technical College, where he earned a degree in engineering.

He served his country with honor and dedication for several years as a member of the National Guard.

Professionally, Ryan excelled as a manufacturing engineer and Environmental Coordinator at Homelite. He took great pride in his work and was a star member of the Homelite bowling team.

Ryan's commitment to his community extended beyond his career. He served on the Board of Deacons at the First Baptist Church of Lyman, SC, where he was also a member of the Men's Bible Class and the Missions Team. Ryan participated in mission trips to build ramps and porches for those in need.

In his free time, Ryan enjoyed various hobbies. He was an avid fan of Byrnes High School football, played the guitar, and had a passion for vintage cars, motorcycles, Clint Eastwood movies, and the Andy Griffith Show.

Ryan's dedication to his family was unwavering. He cared for his mother and siblings until their passing and continued to be a loving caregiver to his wife Sherry and daughter Terri, assisting with household tasks, yard work, and car maintenance until pain limited his abilities.

Ryan will be remembered as a faithful, honorable, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His quiet and present nature, along with his mechanical and investigative skills, left a lasting impact on those who knew him.

His dedication to his work, church, and community is a testament to his character. Ryan's memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
