The annual celebration of German tradition is scheduled on Saturday, Oct. 5 with the Greer State Bank Greer Station Oktoberfest.

Oompah bands and German food, beer and wine will be featured from noon to 10 p.m. for the free festival. It is one of two main events the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce produces.

“Greer State Bank is excited to be part of this important Greater Greer Chamber activity,” Vic Grout, Executive Vice President of Greer State Bank, said in a statement.  “Our goal is to be a vital part of the community, and it is our honor to be associated with this year’s Oktoberfest.”

“We are happy to announce that Warsteiner will return again as our official festival beer and 2013 presenting sponsor,” said Allen Smith, President and CEO of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.

“As one of the largest privately held breweries in Germany, the Warsteiner brand is very well-known and respected.”

Warsteiner will be serving Verum, Dunkel, and Oktoberfest beers at the corner of Randall and Trade Street and the corner of Victoria and Trade Street.

German foods and desserts in the past have included Bavarian white sausages, leberkaus, knackwurst, bratwursts, fresh baked pretzels, funnel cakes, kettle korn, spaetzel, chipstix, glazed nuts, German chocolate cake and Black forest cake.

Food prices will be $1 - $5.
