The Greer Police Department is investigating a series of graffiti or tagging property in the Riverside community.

The bridge at Hammett Bridge Road has been tagged twice during the weekend. The graffiti was rubbed over Saturday after the first event and a fresh and more widespread tagging occurred late Sunday evening.

Two other locations were also tagged, according to Greer Police Lt. Jimmy Holcombe.

"We have not made an arrest yet," Holcombe said.

Holcombe said the graffiti has not proven to be gang-related although the tagging includes words and symbols associated with gangs.

"We haven't linked it to gangs. There's a lot of kids that live in that area," Holcombe said of the community that services Riverside High School, a mile away.

The graffiti is on the side of  Hammett Bridge Road that backs against a subdivision.

"I don't like malicious damage anymore than anybody else," Holcombe said.

If you have any information about this activity Holcombe said to call 848-2161 or 848-2151.
