Mikelle Porter, campus coordinator for the Benson Campus in Greer, received the President’s Excellence Award for the Benson Campus in Greer.
Porter received the President’s Excellence Award for demonstrating excellence in collaboration, forward thinking, communication, and professionalism for the college and for the Greer community.
Porter is involved with the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, receiving the organization’s Sud Paget Volunteer of the Year award in 2010. She is a graduate of Leadership Greer and has served on the chamber’s board of directors and executive board since 2010. In 2011, she served as vice-chair of leadership development and is completing a term as vice-chair of business and community development. In 2016, she will serve as vice-chair for membership excellence and continues to serve on the Greer Business Leadership Board.
At Greenville Technical College, she has served on various academic program advisory committees and leads the Benson Campus Advisory Board. In addition to internal committee work, she has been instrumental in spearheading and implementing an initiative to offer a comprehensive online orientation experience for all new students.
Porter assumed the role of campus coordinator for the Benson Campus in February.
She is responsible for daily operations of the campus and for serving as a community ambassador for the campus and the college. She has been with GTC for 15 years, providing services to students including academic admissions, advising, counseling, financial aid, and management of Student Services personnel. She earned a bachelor degree in psychology from Lander University and a master’s degree in education, counseling and guidance services from Clemson University.
