John and Stephanie Cooper with their son, Eli, and Greer letter carrier Chris Brown.
Brown came to the rescue of Eli Cooper, an infant, last August, who was suffocating, by clearing a plastic wrapper embedded in the child’s air passage. Brown works out of the Greer Post Office and was delivering a package at the residence when the mother, Stephanie, frantically screamed for help.
The gift package included:
• $200 Warby Parker eyewear gift certificate.
• $600 1-year subscription to Gogo in flight Wi-Fi.
• $400 Bose SoundLink headphones.
• 25,000 miles / 2 American Airlines roundtrip airfare
• 5 nights/4 day vacation package at Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa on Ko Olina, Hawai’i.
Brown was invited to The Ellen DeGeneres Show in September but could only receive the U.S. Postal Service’s maximum $20 gratuity. He was invited back as a guest, taking personal leave, for the show’s final day of “12 Days of Giving”.
He received a VIP pass to Friday’s show, with air and room accommodations. The taping was the second of two Thursday.
Brown was returning to Greer and was unavailable for comment when GreerToday.com published this story.
