Scarecrows in peach orchards are a lure for children and a warning to birds.

This decorative mouse on a huge pumpkin is a whimsical enticement for children during the orchard's fall showcase of activities.
Nivens aerial view submitted
This aerial photo shows the vastness and exhibits at Nivens Apple Farm.
Children from Greenville County schools, for a small fee, get a morning full of fall fun.
At Nivens, after a hayride through the scarecrow-decorated orchard, the children have a mini educational session about seeds, pumpkins, gourds, apple recipes and the environment. They are steered to pet some cute bunnies, feed the goats and then they are off to run through the corn maze. The kids end the day with a pick-your-own pumpkin and load up with bags with apples.
Nivens hosts a small or large group bonfire party from 5-11 p.m. which includes hayrides, picnic tables and the preparations for the bonfire. Group outings for apple and pumpkin picking sessions are sandwiched between this weekend’s Apple Fest.
Fisher’s is busy year round with its produce and peach stands. The $3.50 per person price includes the maze, petting animals, and a wagon ride. Picnic areas are available and they have a picturesque area decorated for those special fall photos. The store is full of honey, cider, apples, gourds, jams and jellies and chow-chow. Fishers offers group rates and party prices.
Head out and choose that special pumpkin to carve and make some fun fall memories for your family and friends.
