Jerry Brooks, of Lyman, said he visited the QuikTrip in Greer today because of its easy access.
Ashleigh Larke is all smiles after making her signature drink from the QuikTrip beverage service center. Ashleigh's recipe has 10 flavors.
There was virtually one QT corporate representative for every customer in the store, at times. Carolina Division Manager Tom Takach was overseeing the company's newest concept, generation three store.
"We're all about customer service," Takach said. "That's one thing that hasn't changed since I joined the company in 1982.
The store is bigger, and offers wider aisles, a generous selection of food, beverages, beer and wine and has 10 aisles of two filling stations at each one. The store will be open 24/7 every day, including all holidays, Takach said.
That's what drew Lyman's Jerry Brooks to QT. "The easy access is why I'm here," Brooks said. "I don't have time to go into the store today but this is not the last time I will be here."
Unfortunately for Brooks and customers purchasing gas, the $3.43 for a gallon on unleaded regular was within four cents of the high-low range among other stations along the Wade Hampton corridor. "We don't have anything to do with the price of gas," Takach said. "Someone much smarter than me determines that."
Ashleigh Larke visited the store as a reward for her visit at the doctor's office minutes earlier. "She got a shot at the doctor's office and we came here to get Ashleigh a smoothie and me a coffee," Rachel Larke said. Ashleigh didn't pretend to hold loyalty to one beverage flavor. She enjoyed mixing 10 flavors to make her signature drink.
QT's Full Service Center (FSC) is a made-to-order hot beverage, shakes and smoothies station. An order screen provides customers to place their order as they want. "This is new for this generation store," Takach said of the FSC.
A QT commissary in Atlanta makes and delivers daily the fresh food items to upstate QT stores, Takach said.
Cathi Oburn was working the center this morning. "The order screens are designed to make the store anti-congestion," Oburn said. "It will also bring better customer flow." The screen brings up images that help describe the product customers are ordering.
Takach said QuikTrip transfers management staff from other locations to manage its new stores. "We want to bring QT's culture of customer service to this market and our new employees. We will watch them grow and give them an opportunity to move up," Takach said.
Nick Hughes, from Kansas City, is the store manager.
QuikTrip's Greer location has yet to be added to the company's website, QuikTrip.com.
