Riverside: Head coach Phil Smith is still looking for his first win with the Warriors, who have lost 19 straight games. Offseason and summer workouts concentrated on players working on strength and speed and buying into Smith’s philosophy. Ryan Cerino (quarterback) has receiver Emanuel Jackson (running back last year) to eyeball.Non-region game that has become a rivalry between schools 3 miles apart.
Eastside: Quarterback Drake Turnquist returns. He led Eastside to an 18-play 89-yard drive that beat Riverside last year with 4:34 left in the game. Ty Thomason is the team’s top receiver. The effort on defense will be led by linebackers Joseph Hamilton and Tyler Brown, end Reid Bearden, Will Thorpe at nose guard and defensive backs Eric Marsh and Nick Edwards.
Line: Eastside 8. Points 29.
