Riverside boys fall to Spartanburg in Region II-4A matchup

Published on Friday, January 24, 2014

Spartanburg placed three players in double digits and cruised to a Region II-4A basketball game over the Riverside Warriors Friday night at Spartanburg High School.

Mike Murphy scored a game-high 23 points for Spartanburg and teammates Tay Stevenson and Isaccac Sims 16 and 12, respectively. Myles Smith led Riverside with 11 points, the only player to score in double figures.

Any hope Riverside had in the second half was dashed with a 34-7 Spartanburg run that put the game out of reach.

Spartanburg is 5-3 in the region and 9-8 overall. Riverside fell to 1-7 in the region and 6-10 overall.

Riverside’s game at Boiling Springs has been scheduled for Monday night.
