Hillcrest scored five rushing touchdowns in the first half to defeat Riverside, 45-7, in a high school football game Thursday night at the Reservation.

The Region II-AAAA game was moved up one day anticipating heavy rain Friday evening brought to the upstate by Hurricane Matthew.

Riverside, playing without its top two quarterbacks for the second week straight, was intercepted three times on its seven-first half possessions. The Warriors special teams had two punts blocked.

Ethan Nichols scored three Hillcrest touchdowns and rushed for 69 yards.

Gustavo Martinez kicked a school-record 47-yard field goal for Hillcrest’s points in the second half.

Quarterback Dawson Conrad completed a pass to Kris White for Riverside’s only touchdown.

Riverside fell to 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the region. Hillcrest is 3-4 and 1-1. Riverside will play another Thursday night game next week versus Laurens.
