Sixth-grade Riverside Middle School student Paris Christie won second place in a local illustrated poetry contest sponsored by the Western Carolina chapter of the American Chemical Society.

The contest was held in conjunction with National Chemistry Week.

Upcountry History Museum's traveling exhibit visits RMS

Seventh-grade history classes got to spend time with the traveling museum exhibit from the Upcountry History Museum when it visited RMS recently. Students learned about the lives of soldiers during World War I by examining their helmets, gas masks, dog tags, mess kits and toiletries.

Eighth-graders tour J. Harley Bonds Career Center

RMS eighth-grade students toured the J. Harley Bonds Career Center. The students learned more about the different programs offered and some began making plans to attend in high school.
