Riverside Middle School will host an informational session in the RMS media center on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 12-1 p.m. for anyone interested in the Mentor Greenville program.

Mentor Greenville pairs members of the community with students who would benefit from a positive adult role model.

The training will be led by Alise Brown, director of Mentor Development at the Frazee Dream Center. She will be available to answer questions about the Mentor Greenville program and will have mentor applications available for those interested.

Bring a lunch and Riverside Middle School will provide drinks.

'Coffee with Counselors'

Riverside Middle School's guidance department will host "Coffee with the Counselors" on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 8:45 a.m. in the media center.

Dr. Harry Shucker, vice president for student services at Furman University, will be the speaker. His presentation is entitled "Back from the future: Insights into how your actions of today will affect your children tomorrow."

Shucker will provide information on how technology and the current youth climate and culture are affecting children and teenagers as they grow into young adults.

RMS earns high ESEA rating

Riverside Middle School’s ESEA (Elementary and Secondary Education Act) was recently released and RMS earned a 95.6 (A) rating for the 2013-2014 school year.

Homerooms competing in intramural basketball games

Riverside Middle School homerooms have been competing in intramural basketball games before school. Mrs. Hoesli's 7th-grade homeroom won the most recent round of intramurals.

Riverside Middle School 7th-grade students visited the Roper Mountain Science Center on Oct. 29. The students had hands-on experience with concepts they were learning in the classroom.

Riverside Middle School teachers got in the Halloween spirit with creative ideas and coordinated costumed. Sixth-grade teachers went with a Dr. Seuss theme this year.
