Steve Porter will read Cowboy poetry, a form of storytelling that preserves the tales of life in the rural West. He won first place in the Rising Star Division at the 2010 National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in Montrose, Colo.
Cowboy poetry is a form of storytelling that preserves the tales (both tall and true) of life in the rural West. The reading is 8-10 p.m. at the 208 Trade Street coffee and wine bar.
Porter, from Simpsonville, has been featured on national radio programs and performed at cowboy gatherings in Nevada, Idaho and Utah. He won first place in the Rising Star Division at the 2010 National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in Montrose, Colo.
Porter lives the life of a cowboy on a seven-acre spread near Fountain Inn with his Kathy, three horses and two dogs. He has recorded a CD of favorite western poetry called “Forgotten”. His original “My Flea Bitten Gray” is also on the CD.
You won’t be able to miss Porter as he will be wearing his everyday attire of jeans, boots, western shirt and cowboy hat.
