Rashik Jones, Spartanburg
Chancellor Thrift, Cowpens
“This is an excellent program that provides real-world experience and leads to great jobs for our students,” said Henry C. Giles, SCC President. “These students worked hard, holding down jobs while earning degrees in challenging programs, and now their effort has paid off. We’re very proud of these students and know that they are well prepared for their futures at BMW.”
Thrift, is following in his father’s footsteps, who graduated from the SCC over 25 years ago and has been employed at BMW for almost 20 years. Thrift will become an equipment service associate, just like his father, who is an equipment service associate team leader.
"I've always known I wanted to work for BMW, and the Scholars program gave me the skills to do that. It's great that in just two years after graduating from high school, I'll have a full-time job working for good pay and great benefits. Plus, between BMW’s tuition assistance and my Life Scholarship, I earned a degree and all of my costs were covered."
Graduates from Greenville Technical College (5) and Tri-County Technical College (1) have not been announced.
SCC is currently accepting applications for the 2013 BMW Scholars program until July 1.
