Sgt. Channing Bo Hicks, 24, of 307 Lakecrest Drive, was KIA in Paktika province, Afghanistan honorably serving his country, on November 16, 2012.
Born in Greer, he was a 2006 Greer High School Graduate and was serving in the U.S. Army since graduation.
Surviving are his father and step-mother Chan and Karen Hicks of Lyman; his mother and step-father, Amy H. and Glenn Shaulis of Piedmont; a son and a daughter Wesley Bo and Deliah Hicks and their mother Lisa Danielle Shelton all of Taylors; two brothers, John Hicks of Greer and Colton Agnew of Starr; one sister Brinna Hicks of Greer; paternal grandmother, Kaye “Mimi” Hicks of the home; maternal grandmother, Judy Hindman of Greer; maternal grandfather, Frank Holcombe of Greer; great-grandparents, Faye Hicks Page and Lucy and Hollis Westmoreland; uncles and aunts, Dennis “Pepper” Hicks of Greer, Kellee Denyse Hicks of Greer, Kim and Alan Donald of Greer, Benny and Tina Childress of Piedmont and Martin Holcombe; special cousins, Alex, Cole, Tori, Baylee, Ella Grace, Kallee and D.J., Heather and Josh Morgan and their son Kaiden.
Sgt. Hicks was predeceased by a grandfather, Dennis “Big Pa” Hicks and a great-grandfather George Hindman.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Baptist Church, Greer.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Wally Winner and Chaplain Steve Shugart. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park with full military rites.
Honorary escort will be Trey Lewis, Andrew Bradshaw and the Greer High Class of 2006.
