Southern Connector closing 72 hours for Cinemax production

Published on Friday, April 19, 2013

The Southern Connector will shut down for 72 hours next week to allow a television crew on site to film scenes for an upcoming Cinemax production.

The 16-mile toll road that runs across the southern portion of Greenville County between Interstate 85 and 385 will close to normal traffic on Sunday, April 21 at 10 p.m. and reopen Wednesday, April 24 at 10 p.m., said Peter Femia, executive director of the Southern Connector.

The project came about after Cinemax contacted the South Carolina Department of Transportation about filming. It was decided the Southern Connector was a good location because it is very scenic and fits the surroundings of the show. Cinemax producers do not need the entire 16 miles, but Southern Connector and DOT officials made the decision to close the entire highway in the interest of safety.
