Greer City Park was the starting point for the Upstate Heart Walk this morning. There were thousands of walkers. It took about 10 – 15 minutes for the walkers to clear the park’s starting point at Cannon Street.
Reedy Rip'it of the Greenville Drive made a big impression at the Heart Walk.
Walkers styled their own T-shirts to illustrate a personal story.
The cool morning temperature had some walkers putting on warmer clothing before the heart walk began.
Many of the walkers were heart survivors and shared their stories with GreerToday.com. They will be published later this evening with photos.
The walks were 1 or 3-miles in length. The longer walk virtually covered Cannon Street from Poinsett to almost a mile. Walkers were side by side and filled the entire street. A mild, sunny day was perfect for the early entertainment and walk.
The American Heart Association's event raises funds to save lives from the no. 1 and no. 3 killers - heart disease and stroke – in the United States. The walk is to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living.
