A group of upstate high school students will travel to Scotland to perform “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe” as part of the largest fine arts festival in the world, the 2017 Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. The play is a fantasy novel for children written by C.S. Lewis.
Nicole Stratton, artistic director of The Academy of Arts Ministries, won an opportunity to represent area faith-based artists at the American High School Theatre Festival in Edinburg with the 24-member cast and 12-member staff.
The summer theatre performs at the Logos Theatre in Taylors.
The troupe is offering fundraisers to raise the $200,000 needed for the trip, lodging, meals, set design and shipment to Edinburgh.
The AHSTF runs in conjunction with the festival, where the population of Edinburgh swells from 500,000 to 1.5 million, according to the website.
Sponsors, fundraising by the cast and staff and other activities are available.
