Helen Vanvick is her own subject with this photo of her at the lake.
Trees provide a canopy over this path in Charleston reminding Helen of Robert Frost.
The tranquility of this scene had Helen wonder what God had planned for her nephew's life.
The photo of clouds that looked like angel wings inspired Helen to give it to people going through life's transitions.
"I was on a boat ride one late afternoon and looked up to see clouds that looked like angel wings. I have given this picture to those going through life's transitions --- a girl going off to college, a grieving widow, and a twenty-something moving out on her own," Helen said.
She said she always loved photography. "When digital cameras hit the market, it gave me the freedom to experiment. I tend to be sentimental, so most of my photographs have a story."
Helen explained how she captured a young boy fishing off a doc early one morning. "As I watched this precious child I knew I had captured a moment. It was taken of my nephew as he was happily fishing early in the morning. I wondered what God has planned for his life."
Two of Helen's children went to college on the coast, one to the College of Charleston and one at The Citadel. That provided a new landscape for her photography. "I took many pictures of the Charleston area. This was taken at Boone Hall and the words by Robert Frost are often used at The Citadel, since most cadets have chosen that road less traveled to be a part of The Citadel tradition."
Helen is rarely without her camera. The photo of her on this page was taken at the lake. "It's one of my favorite places to be."
