Weekend of Halloween events planned for all age groups

Halloween events will be the highlight for many this cool but frightening weekend. Greer City Park will host the third annual Rocky Horror Picture Show for adults only while the children will have their options at The Pavilion and Greenville Zoo. The families can get together for music at several venues in the greater Greer area.
ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW: The amphitheatre will be the familiar setting for this popular event. The movie is for adults only (over 18) and free. Pre-show activities begin at 9 p.m. and the movie begins at 11. The dress code is explained below in an earlier (Oct. 10) story.
Donations of new or gently used coats, hats or gloves will be accepted for Share the Warmth Coat Drive.
TRUNK OR TREAT: Greer First Baptist is hosting a truck and treat in the church’s parking lot and gym Saturday from 4:30 – 6 p.m. Free candy, treats, games and a chili cook-off is scheduled. The church is at 201 W. Poinsett Street. Call 877-4253.
ENCHANTED TRACKS: The Pavilion hosts its annual Enchanted Tracks tonight and Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday 5-9 p.m. An enchanted forest with classic fairytale characters will be n display for families and children 10-years old and under. Creative balloons, inflatables, face painting and carnival games will be available.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the event. The Pavilion is at 400 Scottswood Road. Call 288-6470.
BOO IN THE ZOO: The Greenville Zoo’s annual kids-friendly evening is Friday 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 4-8 pm. Children’s admission is $5 and $3 for adults. Call 467-3000.
LEGEND OF SLEEPY HOLLOW: The musical adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic ghost story is performed at the Peace Center by the South Carolina Children’s Theatre on Friday at 7 p.m.; Saturday 1:30 and 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 1:30 p.m.Admission is $26 for adult and $17 for children 18 and under.

GREENVILLE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA: A Halloween-themed concert features “The Mephisto” Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Peace Center. A 90-piece orchestra will play the works of five composers:• Strauss: Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks • Liszt: The Mephisto Waltz No. 1 • Malcolm Arnold: Tam O'Shanter Overture • Mussorgsky: Night on Bald Mountain • Tchaikovsky: Francesca da Rimini
Maestro Edvard Tchivzhel’s 20th anniversary of his defection from the Soviet Union will be recognized Saturday at a reception following the concert.
