A $2.3 million upfit is underway with Crane Construction of Savannah, Mo., handling the interior demolition and upfit and exterior renovation of the former Kmart store. Workers were at the site this week.
The permit filed shows Kohl's, adjacent to Tractor Supply, has 66,223-square feet of space. That fits Kohl’s 55,000 square foot prototype that typically services a mid-size market with 125,000-175,000 people in the trade area.
The Menomonee Falls, Wis.-headquartered company does not comment on individual planned store openings and upfits. Kohl’s is opening five stores this spring: Houma and Slidell, La., Plymouth, Minn., Lawton, Okla., Federal Way, Wash.
A Kohl’s corporate spokesperson told GreerToday.com there was nothing additional to report at this time about the Greer store. September Kohl’s new store openings, with Greer included, will be announced later.
Tractor Supply renovated its property in 2012 that included a new façade and moved its garden equipment from the front of the building to the side. Harper Construction was contracted to renovate the parking lot with new paving, tree-lined and landscaped islands and new lights.
