City officials said the people in line were counting down to 4 p.m. when Breakfast with Santa tickets became available.
The 9:30 a.m. seating is sold out but 66 tickets remain for 8 a.m. and 53 for 11 a.m. Tickets, sold at the business office lobby, are $6 for ages 10-older and $4 for ages 1-9. Children up to age one are free.
City officials said the first customer arrived at 9:30 a.m. but left and returned at 2:30 p.m. to be the first person in line. “The line was crazy by 3:30 p.m. and the folks at the front of the line did a countdown to 4 p.m.,” when tickets were put on sale.
Kathleen Nielsen said she and her children, Alex, 7, and Erik, 5, have attended all but one year. “I wasn’t going to do it this year but my oldest said he wanted to come,” Nielsen.
Jerome Snoddy and his wife, Della, bought five tickets, for each other, their daughter and grandchildren.
Breakfast with Santa includes a hot breakfast, crafts and children sharing wish lists with Santa. Parents are invited to bring their own cameras. A professional photographer will also be available.
