The Joyce Scott Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution met Tuesday in recognition of Veterans Day.
They met at Mountain View Cemetery to recognize the completion of one of their major projects: researching veterans buried at four Greer cemeteries.
Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) celebrated Veterans Day by saluting 240 of its associates, volunteers and contractors who are veterans.
“On Veterans Day, I remember everybody that came before us and fought for us,” said Donnell Wilkins, Patient Care Associate who is retired from the Air Force. “It’s good to see veterans being recognized and continuously being recognized.”
Greer State Bank employees, in honor of Veterans Day, prepared and distributed 160 gift bags for veterans.
Each gift bag contained a MoonPie, RC Cola, a box of Cracker Jack and a personalized hand-written note of thanks
A flag never before flown on American soil was unfurled and raised this morning in honor of Veterans Day at Greer City Hall.
Rose Marie Cooper Jordan, a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, loaned the flag that was flown over Brittany America Cemetery in St. James, France during World War II.

Veterans Day will find many local and national restaurants, grocery stores, car washes and businesses offering free meals and discounts to veterans and active duty military in appreciation for their service.

The flag that flew during Sgt. Nathan Jordan’s burial at Brittany American Cemetery in St. James, France will be flown Nov. 11 at Greer City Hall. The city website will feature a special section that day on Sgt. Jordan, a 1937 graduate of Greer High School and one of three brothers who served during the war.
