Veterans Day is Saturday. Here’s a list of this weekend’s events.
The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System honored 265 veterans Friday with a luncheon.
“On Veterans Day, we remember those that have and do serve our country, and we extend our gratitude for their valor, sacrifice, courage and soul,” said Spartanburg Regional CEO Bruce Holstien. “On this day we celebrate those who have dedicated their lives to our freedom.”
Restaurants are honoring vets during Veterans Day weekend with complimentary meals or specials.
Be prepared to have proof of military service, which can include a VA Universal Access Card, Military ID, DD-214 (Discharge Papers), Veterans Service Organization Card (VSO's include groups like the VFW, DAV, AmVets, MOAA, FRA, and the American Legion), a state-issued ID that shows veteran status or in some cases businesses will accept a picture of the veteran in uniform, according to military.com.
A Veterans Day event is planned for Saturday at the Eastside Family YMCA in Taylors from 1-4 p.m.
Veterans and active military, and first responder organizations will be honored beginning with a color guard posting of colors at 1:15 p.m.
