Riverside, Greer, Blue Ridge win opening season games

Riverside ended a 19-game losing streak, Greer rallied to beat Clinton and Blue Ride went into overtime to edge Wade Hampton tonight.

Phil Smith earned his first win as head coach at Riverside. The Warriors were 0-11 in Smith’s first year of coaching. Ryan Cerino ran for two touchdowns, passed for a score to Robert Morrow, Dondre Thompson scored on a 4-yard run and Antoine Kahale kicked a field goal to lead the Warriors. Riverside never trailed in the rivalry that saw two skirmishes with Darius Smith ejected and ineligible to play against Greer next Friday.

Sen. Scott office taking applications for internships

Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) is accepting applications for congressional internships in his Washington, D.C., North Charleston, Columbia and Greenville offices for the fall. 

The intern program is open to undergraduate and graduate students who have strong interest in public service, government and press.  All internships are unpaid, but provide students valuable work experience and an opportunity to work with professionals in legislative, constituent services and press roles.

FCA Jamboree canceled
AUG 8, 2014

The FCA Jamboree, with Riverside, Blue Ridge and Eastside scheduled to play Saturday, has been cancelled.

With 5 games, each for one half, the activity and a 60 percent chance of more rain Saturday threatened to tear up Wren High School's field. Wren's season begins Aug. 29 at home versus Woodmont.

Nunamacher's birthday wish . . . a good night's sleep in the gym

Zach Nunamacher had a memorable 17th birthday at Blue Ridge High School on Thursday. He spent the day with his extended family of about 75 players and coaches at the Tigers’ annual summer football camp.

Players and coaches spend three days and nights together at the school practicing, eating, sleeping and bonding with activities.
