There’s no telling how many people assembled in the Upstate to observe the solar eclipse.
Greer City Park, Fluor Field and Liberty Park in Greenville, Clemson, Furman, North Greenville University and USC Upstate were among large venues that hosted events. The Greenville Drive paused its game at 2:25 p.m. to allow spectators and players to observe the eclipse.
North Greenville College solar eclipse viewers got an ethereal view Monday.

Dr. Brendan Kelly, Chancellor at the University of South Carolina Upstate met with staff members of the newly designed newspaper – The Carolinian. Zandra Shafer, Stephanie Sawaked, Editor Lucy McElroy, and Asia Suber joined Kelly. As usual the case with photographers, Brandon Pack produced this photo. Pack has captured an iconic photo of the administration building bathed in green for the Upstate’s new branding initiative.
Think a snow event and that is how the South Carolina Emergency Management Department (SCEMD) is planning for the eclipse as it crosses the Upstate and South Carolina.
Grocery stores, gas stations, hotels, restaurants, transportation services, coffee shops, retail stores, urgent care clinics and many other establishments will experience a jump in business, according to the SCEMD.
