Chef Curtis Duffy of Grace, with 2016 winner Fiona Baulo, will be one of the student’s sous chefs.
The finalists, age, school and their recipes:
• Joshua Davis, Age 17, Southside High School, Asian Tuna Salad
• Nayha Hussain, Age 16, Riverside High School, Gobi Manchurian
• Wyatt Hampton, Age 9, E. North Street Academy, Cheesy Chicken Broccoli Bake
• Jordan Sizemore, Age 17, Greer High School, Beef Chimichanga
The cook-off has become a signature kids cooking competition for the food festival in downtown Greenville. The students will have their cooking competition on Sunday, Sept. 24 at 11:30 a.m. on the Culinary Stage. Euphoria is Sept. 21-24.
The student’s sous chefs are Michelin starred:
• Dominique Crenn of Atelier Crenn
• Michael Mina of Michael Mina
• Curtis Duffy of Grace.
The winning recipe will be served in all Greenville County Schools during the 2017-2018 school year.
Judges are:
• Hannah Klinger, Cooking Light
• Joe Urban, Greenville County Schools Food and Nutrition Services
• Sally Wills, LiveWell Greenville
• Fiona Baulo, 2016 winner.
The Healthy Lunchtime Throwdown is a cooking competition open to all Greenville County Schools students between the ages of 8 and 17. Students were invited to submit their original, healthy, affordable recipes online beginning last April. Local judges selected the finalists.
