The Riverside High School Speech and Debate Team won both the overall 2018 South Carolina State Championship and the AAAAA State Title at the S.C. Forensic Coaches’ Association Tournament at Greenville High School March 2-3.
Riverside High student, Cheeun Kang, won 1st place at the South Carolina Art Education Association Youth Art Month show in the High School division of the Western Region. Cheeun’s work was a batik entitled “Moment.”
Spartanburg Community College will host Discover SCC Open House event on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the SCC Central Campus in Spartanburg. The event is free and open to students, parents and career seekers interested in SCC's academic programs.

North Greenville University graduated the following local students on Dec. 9.
A baccalaureate degree student whose cumulative grade point average is at least 3.5, graduates cum laude; those with at least a 3.75, graduate magna cum laude; and those with at least a 3.9 grade point average, graduate summa cum laude. Those listed as an honors scholar fulfilled the requirements for the university’s honors scholar program.
A social media post that referenced an alleged possible school shooting at Riverside High School resulted in two students charged after they lied about it to get out of school, the Greer Police Department reported Thursday.
The investigation into the threat found that two students at Riverside Middle School had fabricated the story.

Greer Middle College (GMC) Student Ambassadors club is hosting an awareness and fundraising event on Monday, March 19 from 6-9 p.m. at GMC.
The event will include booths with representatives from SC Youth Advocate Program, Heartfelt Calling, Thornwell, Miracle Hill, The Bair Foundation, Care2Foster, the SC Foster Parent Association, and SAFY.
