As Americans we appreciate our active duty and veterans who serve the United States in war and peace. The Greer Family Fest is inviting you to share your story about a family member, friend or associate that is active, retired or deceased.
Benton Blount, The Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, Disabled American Veterans and GreerToday.com are partnering on a prize package to reward an individual for sharing their story(s). They will be published in a special link on GreerToday.com.
Parents may be advised to practice time management with their children next Saturday, May 5 at the free Anne Helton’s Creation Station from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The venue will be at the Train Depot at Randall Street.

A United States Army soldier participates in a dance-off competition after the Pat Tillman run on Forward Operating Base Salerno in Afghanistan's Khost province. More than 200 runners participated in the run, which raises awareness of the Pat Tillman Foundation and pays tribute to the fallen comrade.
A "Walk of Honor" will be held Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Village at Pelham Greer Family Fest. Active military personnel of all armed services and veterans are invited to participate. Aaron Tippin will headline the night's entertainment with his music including a patriotic medley.
Sixteen restaurants and food vendors will be at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest May 4-5. Seven restaurants will occupy the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport Food Court in City Park. Nine other vendors will be located throughout the festival.
“We are excited to offer a variety of food choices and options in our Greenville- Spartanburg Airport Food Court and throughout the festival. We hope people will eat lunch and dinner with us as well as treat themselves to some traditional festival food.” stated Dana Martin, of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce.
Aaron Tippin is the designated National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) artist for nearly 600,000 students across the United States and Canada who will join together in song in a collaborative show of support for music education on Monday, May 7.
Tippin is scheduled to perform at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest on Saturday May 5 at 8 p.m., two days before the NAMM event.

The space shuttle Discovery attached to its 747 transport aircraft passes over Washington, D.C. today.
The shuttle will become an exhibit at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. The Discovery, along with the rest of the shuttle fleet, has been retired from active service after 32 years of operations.
Aaron Tippin has long been an advocate for the United States military armed services. This past week the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce announced a "Walk of Honor" for all veterans and active duty personnel.

The 28th Annual Village Hospital Greer Family Fest will honor veterans on Saturday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Greer City Park.
Veterans are invited to participate in a “Walk of Honor” through the park leading up to the main stage area. The Blue Ridge High School National Guard will escort the veterans through the park and will end with a presentation of the colors. Aaron Tippin will take the stage at 8 p.m.
The original outlaw country singer from Greenville, everyone in the local club scene knows the name Mickey Fowler.
A fixture of the local scene in the ‘70s, and even having shared a bill with Alabama in the ‘80s, he died in December 2007. Almost five years later, however, he has left behind a considerable legacy. Among those who cite Fowler as a great influence is Aaron Tippin, the popular country music artist that will be playing at the Village Hospital Greer Family Fest On May 5.
The Miss Greater Greer Scholarship Committee, in conjunction with the Greer Family Fest, will be hosting its annual Prince and Princess Pageant. The pageant is Saturday, May 5 at 10 a.m. on the stage located on Trade Street at the Depot. Registration s $40. Age groups run from through 12 months, through 14 - 16 years of age. This event serves as a fundraiser to help Miss Greater Greer and Miss Greater Greer Teen with expenses when they compete at the state pageant in Columbia during July 7-14.
