The 8th annual Benson OctoberFAST Classic Car Show, Kids Fun Run and Twilight 5K is Saturday, Oct. 4 at the Greer First Baptist parking lot.
The fundraiser benefitting Greer Community Ministries (GCM) has a Car Show noon – 5 p.m., a Kids Fun Run at 5:30 p.m. and the Twilight 5K at 6 p.m.
The Greer course through downtown is certified. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three female and male finishers and recognition awards to the top three finishers in each age category.
“We are excited about this year’s event, and we’re hoping for a record turnout,” said Cindy Simpler, executive director of GCM. “We will have good food, good fun and good music. Thanks to Greenville Health System, you can get a free flu shot there as well. This annual fundraising event helps raise community awareness of the services we provide, all at no cost to individuals and families.”
All proceeds benefit GCM’s four programs – Food Pantry, Sharon’s Clothing Closet, Senior Dining and Meals on Wheels.
The family-friendly, OctoberFAST schedule:
Free flu shots (Greenville Hospital System)
10 a.m. – Car registration. $15 donation.
Noon – 5 p.m. Benson Classic Car Show (free attendance)
5:30 p.m. – Kids Fun Run (registration $10 or donation of new or gently used coat). First 50 registrants get a gift.
6 p.m. – Twilight 5K through Greer (registration $25 before Oct. 1 includes T-shirt, $30 after.
Food: German food booth with plates $8 (include bratwurst, German potato salad, cabbage, German chocolate cake and a drink. Hot dog plate $5 (with chips, cake and drink).
