Bostick is crowned Miss North Greenville University

Valerie Bostick from Greenville was crowned Miss North Greenville University last Friday in Turner Chapel.

Bostick, also given the physical fitness and congeniality awards, won a $1,000 scholarship and will compete this summer in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.

Christal Potter, Miss North Greenville University 2016, passed her crown to Bostick at the pageant.

Sommer Cagle from Lexington was first runner-up, Celina Schwartz from Greenville was second runner-up, Rachel Huber from Taylors was the talent winner and named third runner-up, and Ashley Campbell from Moore, tied for the congeniality award with Valerie Bostick and placed fourth. 

Kaitlyn Shumate from Inman was named photogenic and Tysonna Hutchinson from Hendersonville, N.C., was awarded the community spirit award.  

Contestants were judged according to a private interview, sportswear/physical fitness, onstage questions, artistic expression, and presence and poise. The interview portion of the competition was completed prior to the pageant ceremony.
