Book signings are not boring when Leland Burch is explaining his stories. Burch told some entertaining stories of some of his subjects at his book signing on Dec. 5. Then some of his subjects took an opportunity to "roast" the former Greer newspaper icon.

Leland Burch held his third book signing Monday and came away with as many new stories as the ones he has published in “Greer SC The Center of the Universe”.

At each signing Burch and purchasers of his book reflect on Greer in the past and during the Burch family's successful tenure as owners of the local newspaper until its sale to out of town buyers in 2008.

Burch was at Rosie’s on Monday selling quantities of books to individual buyers as Buzzy Stewart reminisced and kidded Burch about the past.

At each book signing – Dec. 5 at Grove at Pennington, Dec. 13 at McLeskey-Todd Pharmacy and Monday at Rosie’s – Burch said has seen a large part of his sales go to people who are gifting it for Christmas.

The collection of columns is from Burch’s career as editor – 1985-2008 – following the footsteps of his father, Edd. It also draws from Leland's growing up in Greer in the 1950s.

There are no more book signings scheduled through the holidays. However Burch said he would accommodate groups by request through email.

Burch's book is available at McLeskey-Todd Pharmacy, the Greer Chamber of Commerce and at Amazon. Books will be personalized upon request.
