Celebrity rotation set for BMW Pro-Am

Aaron Rodgers, of the Green Bay Packers, acclaimed actor Don Cheadle and Golf Channel’s Morning Drive co-host Paige Mackenzie are among over 30 celebrities who will tee off next week at the BMW Charity Pro-Am at Thornblade Club, Furman University Golf Club and The Cliffs Valley.

The course rotations for the celebrities were announced Saturday.

• Thornblade – Thursday; Furman – Friday; The Cliffs - Saturday: Jose Alvarez (MLB), Josh Beckett (MLB), Matt Hamilton (Olympic Curler), C. Thomas Howell (actor, The Outsiders), Dan Jansen (Olympian), Karen Palacios-Jansen (Golf Channel Announcer), Ed Marinaro (actor, Hill Street Blues), Russ Ortiz (MLB), Kevin Rahm (actor, Lethal Weapon), Jim Rice (MLB), John Shuster (Olympic Curler) and Paula Trickey (actress, Pacific Blue)

• Furman – Thursday; The Cliffs – Friday; Thornblade – Saturday Anthony Anderson (actor, Black-ish), Brian Baumgartner (actor, The Office), Andy Buckley (actor, The Office), Michael Collins (ESPN Sportscaster), Larry the Cable Guy (comedian), Paige Mackenzie (co-host, Golf Channel’s Morning Drive), Alfonso Riberio (host, America’s Funniest Home Videos), Willie Robertson (star, Duck Dynasty), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), Sterling Sharpe (NFL), Ozzie Smith (MLB) and Shep Rose (star, Southern Charm) 

• The Cliffs – Thursday; Thornblade – Friday; Furman – Saturday.

On Sunday, the 10 lowest scoring pro-amateur teams and six lowest scoring pro-celebrity teams will advance to play in the final round at Thornblade Club. 

“Tournament week provides a wonderful backdrop to showcase the beauty of the Upstate and our unrivaled hospitality.” said Steve Sellery, Executive Director of the tournament.

“Our unique offering of events, coupled with a three-course rotation will provide multiple chances to see our celebrities, especially during the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game,” Sellery said.

The inaugural All-Star Celebrity Softball Game will take place on Thursday, 7:30 p.m. at Fluor Field following the 3:30 p.m. Greenville Drive game against the Augusta Greenjackets. Celebrity co-captains Larry the Cable Guy and John O’Hurley will take on fellow co-captains Alfonso Riberio and Rob Riggle, and their respective teams of athletes, actors and entertainers. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office or online at GreenvilleDrive.com; each ticket will grant access to both the Greenville Drive game and the Celebrity Softball game.

• Friday, 7 to 10 p.m., Phil Vassar, who landed 10 No. 1 songs on Billboard’s Hot Country chart as an artist and songwriter, will bring his music to the TD Stage at the Peace Center Amphitheater during The Downtown Concert. Best known for performing hits including “Just Another Day in Paradise” and “Carlene”, Vassar also achieved remarkable success penning songs for other artists – including co-writing Tim McGraw’s “My Next Thirty Years”, Jodee Messina’s “Bye Bye” and “Right on the Money” by Alan Jackson.

Vassar’s performance is part of a grand evening featuring a menu by Larkin’s on the River and beverages. Tickets to the exclusive event ($250) may be purchased through South Carolina Charities Director of Sales Linda Johnson (864.517.2383; [email protected]).

Tournament week also includes Executive Women’s Day on Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Furman University Younts Conference Center. The event will include a panel discussion for women by women.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Lisa Murray, Octagon Worldwide Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer. Tickets for that event are also available through Linda Johnson.

Funds raised through tournament volunteerism will benefit four featured charities: Children’s Hospital of Greenville Health System, Cliffs Residents Outreach, Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and Upstate SC STEM Collaborative.
