Children safe, man denied bond for kidnapping, assault

Walter Greene has been charged with kidnapping, violation of order of protection, domestic violence and abandonment of a minor child after taking his two children from Simpsonville, Wednesday, according to Lt. Ryan Flood of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Flood said Greene was captured at a convenience store on Highway 101 in Spartanburg County. The children were reported safe.

Deputies received tips about the vehicle Greene was driving on Woodruff Road approaching Hwy. 101 before 1 p.m. Deputies followed the car until it pulled into a parking lot at the convenience at 5400 Hwy. 101.

Flood reported Greene stepped away from the car, with the children inside, took Greene into custody and safely secured the children.

The children have been returned to their mother and reported to be unharmed.

Greene was denied bond by a Greenville County judge. 

Earlier Monday:

Two infants in Simpsonville thought to be taken by their father, are the subject of an Amber Alert, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies are searching for Walter Greene, 26. Deputies initially received a call at 8:19 a.m. regarding Greene assaulting the mother of the two children at an address on Roberts Road in Simpsonville.

Following the assault, Greene took 3 month-old, Majesty Greene and 1 year-old, Paradyce Greene and got into the victim's 2016 black Jeep Cherokee (South Carolina license plate SGF636) and drove away. The vehicle is said to have fender damage to the front driver's side of the vehicle.

The mother has an active order of protection against Green for her and her two children.

Walter Green is described as 5-foot, 10 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds with long twists.

The children were clothed in the same clothing shown in the recently taken photographs. The GCSO asks anyone who sees Greene, the children or the vehicle, to call 911 immediately.
