Children and parents participated in the Boiling Springs Fire District Station 3 open house Saturday on Batesville Road.

Activities were centered on education for families to learn about fire safety and duties of firefighters.

Children were drawn to handling a fire hose, with the assistance of a firefighter, with a powerful spray of water aimed at a makeshift two-story building.

Firefighters talked with children about the dangers of fires and the best way to evacuate a home if smoke or fire is detected.
