Blue Ridge is back in the Class 3A football playoffs.

Officials from the S.C. High School League contacted members of the Blue Ridge athletic department around 4:30 today  with news that Lower Richland -- the team that defeated the Tigers this past Friday night -- competed with an ineligible player and forfeited the game.

So, the Tigers will travel to Daniel for the second round of the Class 3A playoffs Friday night. Kickoff is  7:30 p.m.

"We've had to re-issue equipment and get back to work," said Blue Ridge head coach Wade Cooper. "We're trading film now, and the coaches are going to work through the night and put together a gameplan, and we're going to get on the bus and go play."

With the forefeit, Blue Ridge is officially 10-1 heading into the game. Daniel is 9-2 after a 45-21 playoff win over Broome last week.

Cooper said he did not know why the Lower Richland player was ruled ineligible or which player it was.

The Tigers have not practiced this week, but Cooper said the team will try to at least try to get in a walkthrough as the school schedule allows.

"We are well-rested, that's for sure," Cooper said.
