The Greer Police Department hosts the 6th Annual Upstate South Carolina Law Enforcement Memorial Tournament.
The nonprofit event raises money for the Upstate Law Enforcement Memorial Fund. The fund is for the families of officers who are killed in the line of duty in the Upstate.
$16,000 has been donated to fallen officer's families. Gallagher’s Army Fallen Officer Fund matches the donations, bringing the total donations to $32,000.
Because of the tragic past two years and the heartbreaking loss of three officers in the line of duty during that time in the Upstate of SC, the fund is depleted, stated Greer Police Department Lt. Jim Holcombe.
Opening ceremonies begins at 8 a.m. Saturday when an honor guard will present colors, singing of the national anthem, an invocation will be given, and local fallen officer's families will throw our first pitches.
The public is invited with continuous action Saturday until 5:45 p.m. Sunday’s games begin at 9 a.m. with the championship scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
