The Greer Christmas Parade is scheduled for 2:30 Sunday with a scaled down version because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme is “Christmas Melodies”.
A virtual grand marshal vehicle honoring frontline healthcare workers leads the 63-unit parade on its 1.1-mile route. A sensory safe zone is on the first block of the parade route on Poinsett Street between Memorial Drive and Hubert Street. The parade turns left at North Main Street and ends at Cunningham Road.
The Greer High and Blue Ridge High school bands and cheerleaders will not participate because of Greenville County Schools restrictions.
Participants will not hand out any items including candy. Greer Relief has several Safety Stations along the route with masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing wristbands available.
GreerToday.com encourages visitors to observe social distancing and wear a face covering.
The parade was approved under an exception process by the S.C. Department of Commerce. South Carolina reported the largest single day increase of COVID cases on Friday since the pandemic began – . 2,712 cases.
