The City of Greer begins its celebration of International Month Tuesday at noon with the ringing of 100 bells in honor of Greenville sister city Bergamo, Italy.
Bergamo bells are rung 100 times every night at 10 to mark the ancient curfew of the city gates closing for protection.
The Upstate International Center is asking organizations with carillon, electronic or manual bells to ring them.
This all leads up to the third annual International Festival on April 9 at Greer City Park from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
The festival includes activities for children, tents and booths with representatives from many countries, international sports, entertainment and foods of different cultures and an international marketplace.
