Julia Higginbotham, from Greer, won $200 and the first place trophy at the "Best Singer in the State" competition in the elementary division.

Higginbothan, a fourth grader at Tigerville Elementary School, sang, "Let's Go Fly a Kite". She enjoys acting and singing and is active in theatre in Greenville and Spartanburg.

Brandon and Suzanne Higginbotham are the parents of Julia,

Luke Smith, a senior at Wren High School in Anderson, was the overall winner. He sang the classic country song, "The Ride," while accompanying himself on the guitar. Smith won a $2,500 cash prize and performance opportunities, including opening for major artists at Arizona Children's Charities October 2016 "Rockin" on the Runway" concert.
