Second main break leads to boil water advisory
6:35 p.m. update

Greer CPW reported Thursday night it was working to repair a second water main break and issued a boil water advisory for  customers living off Wood Road, Matts Lake Road, Judson Avenue, Lawton Street and Clark Avenue. Customers should boil their water for one minute for the next 24 hours.

Customers will receive notice when their water is safe to drink.

Crews estimated repairs would take about four hours.

First reported 3:47 p.m.

CPW isolates water main break, no boil water advisory

Greer CPW crews were able to isolate a water main break to a 10-inch water line so no boil water advisory will be needed by Greer Memorial Hospital and the Children's Medical Center.

A water main was hit by a contractor at the intersection of South Buncombe and Brushy Creek Roads around 2 p.m. The Greer Police Department reported  Brushy Creek Road will be closed from Buncombe Road to Henderson Gap.  Commercial trucks should use Suber Road instead of Henderson Gap, GPD reported.

These two medical organizations never lost water service due to CPW working with the fire department to run 500 feet of hose line from one hydrant to the other- providing water to the hospital.

One business, CIA, a car dealership will be under a boil water advisory.

CPW crews are working to fix the water main break and should have work completed around 7 p.m. CPW will cover the hole back up but it will then be up to the contractor to make pavement repairs.
