Dewey “Skin” Williams, Jr., a decorated World War II veteran with the U.S. Navy, who served in the Pacific Theater, died Friday. He was 97.
Williams was assigned to the USS Landing Ship Tanks (LST 268) and was involved in the Marshall Islands and Okinawa assault and occupations, and the capture and occupation of Saipan, among other operations.
Williams, a native of Greenville County, was retired from Southern Machinery Co., and Draper Corporation.
