The Highway 29 canopy lighting project is scheduled to begin in February, Greer Commission of Public Works commissioners reported Monday.
The estimated cost is $2.12 million approved unanimously by commissioners Perry Williams, Eugene Gibson and Jeffrey Howell. CPW will provide documentation for pay requests and the City of Greer will reimbursement expenses. City Council has planned for the project the past three years and approved the expense in the 2016-2017 budget.
The former Allen Bennett Hospital site belongs to 313 Memorial Drive, owned by Jim Benson – for now.
Greer City Council approved an amended offer for the approximately 10-acre site at the corner of Wade Hampton Boulevard and Memorial Drive in its second reading of the ordinance Tuesday night.
The Greer Police Department is turning to greater Greer citizens for assistance in the identification of a subject involved in an armed robbery that took place Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. at the Dollar General at 14165 East Wade Hampton Boulevard.
The subject, described by police as an older white male, with a black ball cap, black jacket and blue jeans entered the store carrying a silver handgun.
