Davia Bunch, a former accomplished International Ballet Academy dancer, won Thursday’s Talent preliminary in the Miss South Carolina competition at Township Auditorium in Columbia. IBA is located in Greer.
Bunch, 20, from Spartanburg, performed a ballet en pointe to “Entrance” to Act Number Four, a selection from “Carmen”.
Miss Columbia, Suzi Roberts, 23, became a double winner when she won swimsuit. Roberts, from Pawley’s Island, won the talent preliminary Tuesday performing a lyrical dance to “Greatest Love of All”.
Four preliminary winners were announced after the second night of preliminary competition on Wednesday at Township Auditorium in Columbia.
• Miss Spartanburg, Sydney Ford, 22, from Gaffney, won the Talent preliminary. She performed a tap dance to Perm.
I was visiting with Robyn Zimmerman at the Stomping Grounds on Tuesday when she paused on the way out marveling at the quaintness of the multi-dimensional coffee shop, its décor and mostly the customer-friendly atmosphere.
I described Lisa Garland, owner/operator of Stomping Grounds Coffee House and Wine Bar, as the epicenter of Greer’s downtown renaissance. Lisa’s store is at 208 Trade Street.
The lure of a lavender farm is what drew Jeff Geib and his family to Greer.
“I never thought I would be in Greer picking lavender,” Geib, from Chattanooga, Tenn., said. “My daughter (Cassidy) and wife (Julie) now want to move here.”
