The July 4 Kids Parade in Greer is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It is Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Arlington-Davenport neighborhood.
You will have choices to make from concerts, baseball games, picnics, a parade, fireworks, and a time to honor the U.S. Armed Services.
We give a double thumbs up and commend for the 20th Annual Kids Parade in Greer at 10 a.m. July 4. See below.
JUNE 29 (THURSDAY)
PATRIOTIC CONCERT WITH SPARKLE CITY BRASS
6:30 p.m. Free. At Landrum Library. Free. Hear a mix of patriotic, Dixieland, classical and pop songs. Bring lawn chairs or a picnic blanket. Landrum Fire Department will be selling hotdogs for a fundraiser. Concert will move indoors in the event of rain.
LET FREEDOM RING: A PATRIOTIC CELEBRATION
7:30 p.m. Free. At Furman University Amphitheater. Lakeside Concert Band. The Greenville Chorale.
JULY 1 (SATURDAY)
COWPENS NATIONAL BATTLEFIELD CELEBRATION OF FREEDOM
10:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. Free. Ranger guided walks begin 10:30 a.m. Special weapons firing demonstrations throughout the day. Children’s activities noon-2:45 p.m. Educational activities include making sachets, rolling dummy musket cartridges, quill pen writing.
RED, WHITE & BLUE RIDGE FAMILY & COMMUNITY FESTIVAL
6:30 p.m. Free.Locust Hill Baptist Church (5534 Locust Hill Road) is the host of the inaugural celebration featuring BBQ dinner ($6 adults, $4 children, ages 3 and under free). Touch-a-Truck featuring fire trucks, the Greenville County SWAT and K-9 Units, construction tractors and farm equipment. Bloodmobile on site for donations, Music entertainment begins 7:30 p.m. Fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m. Food and beverages available for purchase.

JULY 2 (SUNDAY)
GREENVILLE DRIVE MILITARY APPRECIATION DAY
4:05 p.m. (Gates open 3 p.m.). First half champion Greenville Drive vs. Lexington (Kansas City Royals) Legends.
Greenville Drive teams up with Upstate Warrior Solution. The U.S. Army Special Force Parachute Team drops into the stadium, colored smoke trailing behind. The Warbirds Vintage Aircrafts will conduct a slow flyover. A military vehicle will be parked on Field Street for kids to see and have their photos taken. Free parking with trolley service at County Square.
JULY 4 (TUESDAY)
20th Annual Kids Parade
10 a.m. Free. The Greer neighborhood tradition has expanded past the original Arlington-Davenport borders to a second generation of families that continue to return with their children. Greer Mayor Rick Danner’s extended family began the tradition of children, dressed in red, white and blue, walking behind fire trucks and police escorts. Neighbors sit on their porches with bunting draped and flags, waving to the children.
Plenty of parking along the parade route. Parade typically ends at 11 a.m. Pets welcome (don’t forget you pooper scoopers).
SPARTANBURG RED, WHITE AND BOOM
6-10 p.m. Barnet Park. $5 admission. Event includes barbecue, funnel cakes, burgers, hot dogs, ice cream and more food along with live music and fireworks.
GREENVILLE RED, WHITE AN BLUE FESTIVAL
5-10 p.m. Downtown Greenville. Free. Event includes music on two stages, a children’s area, food vendor and fireworks at 9:45 p.m.
