Widespread influenza reported by DHEC

Widespread influenza activity was reported by DHEC in the week ending Dec. 13 with one lab confirmed death reported. Since Sept. 28 there have been 8 confirmed deaths reported.

New Year’s resolutions often focus on personal improvement. This year experts are encouraging entire families to consider making a pledge to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle.
Parents have more potential than anybody else to influence their children's behavior – including their eating habits – according to a study by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In fact, parents outrank sports celebrities as the people most children would most like to be, according to the survey.
Spartanburg Regional recognized for sleep lab excellence

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System (SRHS) has been recognized for excellence in outpatient experience in the sleep lab unit.
HealthStream awarded the "Excellence Through Insight Award" to SRHS's outpatient sleep lab, located at North Grove Medical Park in Spartanburg.
Joys of Christmas: Ruby's entertainment was outside the box

My daughter was 1 last Christmas and my favorite image of that holiday season is a photo of Ruby with an empty Fisher-Price box. It captured a common Christmas experience. She had just opened lots of presents, but there she was in the kitchen entertained by an empty box.
However, she got the meaning of the holiday. We celebrated at my mother-in-law's house, and Ruby really enjoyed her time with cousins. They live more than 5 hours away and we don't see them often, except for FaceTime. She constantly followed her 3-year-old cousin around and gave lots of hugs.
