Greer Police Department’s K9 Boss and Stryker have received a bullet and stab protective vest. Officer Jordan Williams is partnered with Boss and Officer James Compton with Stryker.
The vests were donated through non-profit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. They were sponsored by Yan and Karon Ratke of Spartanburg and are embroidered with the sentiment “Provided by the Ratke’s & local area businesses”.
Festivals, strategic planning including arts, walking and bicycling plus news and features, and even a coloring book, is featured in the city’s Team Greer Annual Report.

Restaurants are participating in “Cops Night Out”, an initiative that provides the Greer Police Department’s officer of the month and his/her family dinner at a local restaurant.
Bill Bennett, during a ride along with a Greer officer, learned of the extra time police work cuts into family time when extra time is required to finish a case, attend court, training, side jobs and mandatory call-ins.
South Carolina is ranked 6th in the nation for the rate of pedestrian fatalities.
New Mexico had the highest rate (3.55), while Minnesota had the lowest (0.27). Seven states had pedestrian fatality rates per 100,000 population greater than 2.0 – Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Louisiana, Nevada, New Mexico and South Carolina.
Officers with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested one juvenile Tuesday morning in relation to the written bomb threat discovered at D.R. Hill Middle School on Monday.
A separate bomb threat on Byrnes High School on Friday has not resulted in an arrest as of Wednesday night.

The Greer Police Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a suspect related to the shooting of a man on Feb. 22 at the Oakland Place Apartments.
