Santa Claus came to town Friday night and lit the Greer Christmas tree in City Park.

The tree lighting was the beginning of a three-day Christmas celebration for kids and adults. City officials said it was the largest crowd to attend the tree lighting in recent memory.

Breakfast with Santa has three sessions today, all sold out within two hours last month, and classical pianist Flavio Varani has a recital Saturday night at the J. Harley Bonds Center at 7:30 p.m. Tickets remain available for the fundraiser for the Greer Cultural Arts Council.

Varani’s grand piano was delivered Friday and he had an extensive private rehearsal.

The Greer Christmas Parade is Sunday beginning at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Clock Restaurant at 603 W. Poinsett Street. Santa will be riding at the end of the parade and Lonnie “Gee” McGee will be leading the Greer High School Marching Band.

The parade will travel along Poinsett Street, turn left at North Main Street and end at the J.C. Bonds Center.

The Greer Station Vintage Christmas Boutique Market ends its three-day run Saturday at Grace Hall. Handmade, upcycled and vintage specialties from over 30 vendors from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
